Last updated: February 2026
Overview
Rentra collects explicit opt-in consent before sending any SMS messages to users. Consent is obtained through clearly labeled checkboxes within the application, and all consent events are logged with timestamps for compliance purposes.

Consent Collection Methods
Rentra collects SMS consent through the following methods. Each method requires an affirmative action from the user before SMS messages are sent.
Method 1: Tenant Invite Acceptance
When a landlord invites a tenant to the platform, the tenant sees a consent checkbox during the account setup process. SMS is not enabled unless the tenant explicitly checks the box.
Opt-In Form Example — Tenant Invite
Including payment reminders, maintenance updates, and property alerts. Message frequency varies. Message & data rates may apply.

Method 2: Account Settings — Phone Number
When a user (landlord or tenant) adds or updates their phone number in account settings, a consent checkbox appears. The user must check the box before the phone number can be saved with SMS enabled.
